Jessie J Reveals Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis Before "No Secrets" Release
Jessie J speaks to fans, sharing news about early breast cancer diagnosis before the release of her song "No Secrets".
British singer-songwriter Jessie J has opened up about her battle with early breast cancer, revealing that she was diagnosed prior to the release of her track "No Secrets" in April.
The singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Tuesday.
"I was diagnosed with early breast cancer before 'No Secrets' came out," Jessie J explained in her post, emphasising the importance of the word "early." Despite the diagnosis, Jessie expressed gratitude for the early detection, acknowledging the difficulties of cancer while focusing on the positive aspects of her situation.
The singer has been undergoing a series of tests since the release of her song, and she explained that she decided to be open about her journey for a personal reason. "I just wanted to be open and share it because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough," she said.
Jessie J also noted how sharing her experiences in the past has helped her connect with others facing similar challenges.
Despite the situation, the singer found humour in the coincidence of releasing No Secrets alongside her personal health battle, saying, "It's a weird topic and a weird situation."
Jessie J Diagnosed With 'Early Breast Cancer': 'Your Girl Needs A Hug'
Jessie J has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The singer, 37, announced via Instagram on Tuesday, June 3, that she received the news prior to the April 25 release of her track "No Secrets."
"I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early," Jessie told fans in the social media video. "I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book."
The "Price Tag" singer also captioned the video with a lighthearted albeit emotional summary. "No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called 'Living my breast life'? 🥴," Jessie wrote. "All jokes aside (You know it's one of the ways I get through hard times) This last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on alongside it on the sidelines has given me the most incredible perspective. BUT… Your girl needs a hug. 🫂🫀🔋."

Jessie, who is mother to son, Sky, 2, whom she shares with boyfriend Chanan Colman, added a final line that nodded to her trademark humor. "Also not getting massive tits. Or am I? No no… I must stop joking," she wrote.
This is not the first time Jessie has candidly shared updates on her health with fans. In July 2024, the musician revealed she was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD, adding that she had learned of both disorders three months prior.
Posting an Instagram video of herself singing on stage when she was younger, she explained that bringing her child into the world "exposed" her disorders "a lot more," Jessie also noted that the diagnoses proved "comforting" as she leaned into motherhood. "It made it feel less heavy and scary," Jessie captioned the post.
"But also in moments has made me feel like I can't talk about it. F*** that. Here I am talking about it. Embracing it," she added, admitting that she has felt "different" over the course of her life and career.

"ADHD has such a wide spectrum, it's like a mystery putting your version of it together, that's how it's felt for me," Jessie continued, further explaining that she was able to understand how "to cope, excel and grow" with her newfound conditions.

Jessie welcomed her son into the world after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage in November 2021 and spoke about how she had planned on raising the child on her own.
She addressed the miscarriage during a May 2022 appearance on the "Diary of a CEO With Steven Bartlett" podcast. "I remember just going home and not processing it," Jessie said during the episode. "I posted it [on social media] because I didn't have anyone there to break on. I didn't have anyone to just fall apart on, and that's what I needed. That's what I wanted."
Jessie continued, "It was just the saddest thing, but at the same time, I knew that the reason it happened was because I wasn't supposed to do it alone."

The singer provided an update on her health in a candid video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, June 3, expressing that it was something she was "going back and forth" on revealing.
"I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life. Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," she said.
The English pop star released her song, "No Secrets" in April.

Noting that her diagnosis was not something she planned, she added that she is "getting to keep [her] nipples," which is "good."

Over in the caption, Jessie, who is a mom to son Sky, 2, with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman, expressed further how she was feeling.
